Rainbow River November 2,3,4
As of 15 Oct,
all ten of the camp sites set side for the Nov 2 - 4 joint paddle with the
Gulf Coast Backwater Paddlers have been reserved. However, there are
four other tent sites still available for late callers and several of the
original ten sites appear to have only one tent so some doubling up is still
possible. Again, the number to call for campsite reservations is (352)
382-2200 and alternate accommodations are available in the nearby
Chassahowitzka Hotel (352)
382-2075.
The current
plans are:
Fri night - Informal gathering as people arrive and get set up. Sat morning - Breakfast on your own. Sat paddles - One group to Rainbow River. Shuttle required. No disposable containers for lunch at the spring. Second group to an alternate river (Gum Slough if water level permits with lunch at the head spring). Sat night - Pot luck. Bring your own main dish with a side to share. We can use the covered dining area. Sun morning - Pancake breakfast. Also at the dining area. Pancakes courtesy of Diane. Bring your own juice, coffee, sausage, etc. Sun paddle - Local on the Chassahowitzka. Lunch on the river. Set your own pace and departure. Monday - Open for those who might want to spend another day.
